Wiring the 427 SOHC engine with Suzuki alternator

ERA can supply the necessary wiring adapter to make wiring the alternator reasonably straightforward.  You will still have to do some cutting and soldering to the main harness unless the harness was modified at ERA.
Wiring into kits up to #636
(only red and brown wires to the voltage regulator plug)

Cut off the original ring connectors from #41 and trim all the wires to the same length.
Install new small male pin connections onto the brown and black wires of #41, and a large end on the white wire.
Insert the large connector into the housing as described at the bottom..
Early wiring
Wiring into kits, 637-on

  • Cut off the original ring connectors from #41 and trim all the wires to the same length.
  • Install new small male pin connections onto the G/R and Y/R wires of #41, and a large end on the orange and black wires.
  • Insert the large connectors into the housing as described at the bottom..
Later wiring
  • Strip the insulation back about 1/2".
  • Pre-solder the exposed wire.
  • Melt solder into the wire end so that it is about 1/3 full.
  • Heat the end so that the solder melts and insert the wire.  Keep the wire straight as it cools.
  • Make sure that the tang snaps into the notch in the wire end.
